The story of a kid who wanted to be a neurosurgeon and ended up being a designer.

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela.

Influenced by the caribbean, homemade italian food, music, and comedy.

Ever since I can remember, when I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I answered that I wanted to be a doctor. I don't know where my interest in medicine came from, perhaps it was influenced by the fact that my grandmother was a nurse, I don't know, but since I was little I was sure that I was going to go that route.

When I started high school, more specifically when I was around 14 years old, I discovered the wonderful and sometimes dangerous world of graffiti. There was no turning back. I immediately fell in love with it and started drawing letters and tags everyday. This gave birth to my new favourite activity of the day: Spending the entire morning school bus ride looking at graffiti on the streets, analysing the different types of letters and even recognising if there were any new ones that weren't there the day before.

The rest of that period of my life went by like that, drawing letters and trying not to get in trouble because of the surface I drew them on. When I was in my last year of high school, a cousin mentioned that “All graffiti writers that she knew, ended up studying Graphic Design”. I’m not even sure about how many graffiti writers she knows, but that sparked my curiosity about it and helped me to understand that studying Graphic Design was the safest and most logical transition to be able to make a living out of my creativity.

To be honest, I no longer wanted to spend a thousand years in medical school. I wanted to get to action as soon as possible, to create. And that's what happened, I studied Graphic Design from 2011 to 2014 and have been a typography and branding enthusiast since then because of the way they work together in a perfect symbiotic relationship. I also started a personal project in 2017 called Groovy Type, where I continue to experiment and try different things with lettering, type and design in general.

To this day I still love medicine, but I settled for a Nutrition Coach certification and a bunch of documentaries. My true passion is designing brands & letters.
